We spent this past Memorial Day at the beach….well at the ball field close to the beach. My son had a Memorial Day baseball tournament the whole weekend. One of my favorite weekend activities is to watch my kids play sports. I love sitting in my chair with my puppy at my feet cheering on my kids.
My favorite moment is when my son, at the plate, looks over at me, waits for my words of encouragement: “deep breathe,” “stay focused,” “swing hard,” I yell over to him; in our minds we are the only two on the field. He looks at me and nods his head. Lifts his bat into position and watches, waiting for that perfect pitch. All is silent the moment before the bat cracks at the sound of contact. My eyes close during the few seconds between home plate and the safety of the next bag. As his feet hit the first base bag, sending white chalky dust flying into the air, I am finally able to exhale. It may be little league baseball but you always want to give your kids everything you can and in that moment I want to give him the confidence, spirit and luck he needs to succeed. Babe Ruth said “Baseball was, is and always will be the best game in the world to me.” That statement rings true for me as long as my son is in the field.
Of course I love to look cute cheering him on! Most of the time, I’m not a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl so I’m always looking out for an easy go to weekend look. I picked up this cute white romper that is so adorable and easy to wear. It was the perfect way to show my Memorial Day spirit and keep my fashion game on point. No romper outfit would be complete without the perfect flat sandals. I bought these gold lace up sandals from Steve Madden last year and I’m still in love with them. My son’s team played very well and fun the whole weekend. We may not have won the tournament but we certainly had fun playing the game, enjoying the nice weather and looking fashionable.
